Education Psychology Leaders Join Saphron for Bridge the Gap Workshop
On Aug. 15, the former president of the International School Psychology Association spoke with middle and high school students on a Saphron interactive webinar alongside a Yale Child Study Center researcher and a Presidential Award for Excellence recipient.

With over 30 participating middle and high school students from around the country, Saphron hosted Bridge The Gap, moderated by Saphron Initiative’s Karen Tseng on Saturday.
Dr. Saundra McGuire, a retired professor and author who received the Presidential Award for Excellence from President George W. Bushm broke down the actual science of learning, proving how students can study smarter instead of harder. This former Cornell University professor, Director Emerita of LSU’s Center for Academic Success, and bestselling author of Teach Yourself How to Learn worked to reshape the audience's entire mindset on how to learn.
Between each guest speaker, our Saphron Initiative team led participating students through interactive ‘Skill Spotlights’ that gave students the chance to instantly practice what you have learned by analyzing real-world schedules, study methods, and emails.
Clinical psychologist, global bestseller, and past president of both the National and International School Psychology Association Dr. Peg Dawson guided everyone through mastering executive functioning, providing a definitive roadmap to move from feeling overwhelmed to completely organized. Drawing from over 30 years of clinical practice and the lifetime achievement of award-winning insights that made her Smart but Scattered book series a global phenomenon, she delivered the ultimate playbook for overcoming focus and organizational struggles.
Finally, Dr. Michael McCarthy, a Postdoctoral Associate at the Yale School of Medicine Child Study Center, honed in on student-teacher relationships on the nuances of communication in education environments. Afterwards, all participants were provided with a Bridge the Gap Student Success Toolkit.
